Welcome to Rotary Records. Located in West Springfield Massachusettes in a classic New England church built in 1800, Rotary Records has been making great recordings for over 25 years. Owner and Engineer Warren Amerman has an extensive background in Jazz, Classical, Folk, Pop and Rock and he has built the perfect studio for tracking, mixing and mastering all types of music, as well as audio for video and film. Designed for comfort, great sound and affordable rates the studio features both a large open live room and treated Isolation rooms, all with big window views to the outside and silent heating and cooling.
If you're traveling, there is a full apartment in the building that can sleep 4-5 people. There are two full baths, living room and dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. Wake up in the morning, make breakfast and head up to the studio in your socks!
Currently sessions are very limited due to Covid19, although I am accepting mixing and mastering projects that I do remotely. You can reach me by email at rotaryrecords@gmail.com to discuss your project and get an estimate of cost.
The Studio features over 2,000 square feet of recording space. The live room is 40 by 20 with 23 foot ceiling. Three Isolation rooms feature great sight lines and are fully treated including extensive bass trapping in the walls and ceiling. There is a fourth Iso space connected to the Live room but treated for tighter acoustics. Tracking is to Pro Tools 2020 HD with 32 tracks of AD conversion. All rooms are on floated floors and have silent heat and air conditioning. The spaces feature 10 foot high windows for views to the outside world - no more working in a cave! Of course great mics and fine instruments are available and included in the rate.
Most of the projects recorded at Rotary Records have been mixed and mastered here too. The control room is extremely accurate and fully treated with over 100 bass traps, full range diffusers and computer designed room geometry. The extensive collection of plug-ins include Waves, UAD, Slate and many more. To date we've mixed and mastered over 400 projects.
We're also happy to mix or master projects recorded elsewhere.
Of course video has become more and more important. We can shoot single camera documentary style during recording, single camera lip sync style to a mixed track or multi camera live during tracking.
We've mixed shorts, commercials and feature films. ADR services (credits include NBC's Chicago Fire and Hallmark Channel's Signed Sealed and Delivered) are also available.
I started recording in the 70's on 4 and then 8 track tape. At first just to record my own music but quickly other bands wanted to record and so I had the classic "studio in my living room" setup. I got distracted in the later 70's and 80's by photography, videography, video game programming and design and then video disc based training and museum exhibit design. All that time I was doing some audio work but I missed music and so in 1995 I built my first serious studio and started Rotary Records. In 2005 with the help of many friends I built the new studio in the church. It's been an adventure!
